Margaret Rynning

Margaret Rynning is an Associate Professor at the Westerdals Department of Communication and Design, Kristiania University College. With over 20 years of professional experience as a graphic designer in Oslo, Norway, she focuses on visual identity and graphic communication. Her academic work intersects with critical design, exploring how visual concepts can address social and political issues.

Her research emphasizes Nordic design, regional culture, and the principles of posthumanism and more-than-human design. She co-led the "Hi There!" project, which used Guerrilla Design Activism to foster sensory engagement with nature through installations in Oslo Botanical Garden. This work challenges human-centered perspectives and promotes relational ways of knowing.

Margaret collaborates on artistic research projects like Talk Nature Artistic Research and has contributed to innovative design practices that merge handmade and digital elements. Her projects often address environmental fragility and speculative design, creating dynamic interactions between humans and non-human entities.
