Associate Professor Margaret Cook is Program Leader for Occupational Health and Safety Education at the University of Queensland's School of the Environment. A Certified Professional Ergonomist with over 25 years' experience, her research examines musculoskeletal health in workplaces, particularly office ergonomics and environmental impacts on worker performance.
Her investigations focus on thermal conditioning effects on cognitive load, PPE-induced psychological distress, and workplace interventions. Recent studies employ multimodal approaches combining physiological monitoring with cognitive assessment to evaluate environmental stressors.
Honors include the Eric Wigglesworth Medal (2002) for OHS research excellence. She serves on government advisory panels and holds leadership positions in the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society of Australia.
