Dr. Marcus Bussey is a Senior Lecturer in History and Futures Studies at the University of the Sunshine Coast's School of Law and Society. With over 40 years of experience as an educator and futurist, he teaches world history and philosophy of history while supervising higher degree students. As Deputy Head of the UniSC Sustainability Research Centre, he leads research projects on sustainability and environmental communication.

His research explores social learning, adaptive capacity, and the intersection of cultures through embodied workshops. Core interests include anticipatory aesthetics, futures studies, phenomenology, and transformative pedagogies. His work emphasizes co-creation as a tool for societal transformation.
Bussey has received numerous awards including the Taiwan Fellowship (2014) and Emerald Literati Network Award (2010). As Chief Investigator on projects like Excellence in Community Engagement (2019-2021) and MISTRA-funded TRANSEC, he develops innovative approaches to environmental communication.
