About
Marcus Brogeby is a university lecturer in business administration with a focus on accounting at the University of Borås, affiliated with the Academy of Textiles, Technology and Economics and the Department of Business Administration and Textile Management.
His research interests focus on the production of accounting linked to underlying economic events, examining the role of accounting in organizations, how accounting material affects organizational structures, and the credibility of accounting as a communication tool. He specifically investigates why accounting sometimes fails to function effectively as a communication mechanism within organizations.
Brogeby is currently pursuing his doctoral degree at the University of Gothenburg, conducting research on how sustainability reporting is shaped through a case study of a large Swedish company. His work examines how existing infrastructure both enables and limits the production of sustainability reporting. In 2015, he defended his licentiate thesis titled From bricks to numbers – a study of translation, which traced accounting information from economic events through to consolidated financial statements.
As an educator, Brogeby teaches at both undergraduate and master's levels, covering subjects including basic accounting, qualitative research methods, and financial analysis. His teaching directly informs and is informed by his research on accounting practices and organizational communication.
