Marcin Tarnawski serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Harpsichord, Organ, and Early Music at the Academy of Music in Warsaw, where he also holds leadership roles as Chairman of the Recruitment Committee and Head of the Recruitment Office since 2021.
His academic background includes violin studies under Prof. Dr. Hab. Marcin Baranowski, baroque violin (with distinction) under Irmgard Schaller, and symphony/orchestra conducting under Prof. Dr. Hab. Elżbieta Wiesztordt at the F. Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz.
Tarnawski's research centers on improvised ornamentation and chamber music within historical performance practice, with active engagement in baroque repertoire interpretation and early music pedagogy. His artistic work bridges scholarly research and performance through collaborations with period-instrument ensembles.
He has coordinated the university's Art of Excellence project (2019-2022), establishing the OpenMusicReview.art platform, and founded the Academy of Early Music Association (2014-2018) which organized the Bydgoszcz Baroque Scene festival. Notable conducting achievements include Handel's La Resurrezione (2019) and Porpora's Filandro (2020).
