Marcellis M. Zondag

Prof. Dr. Marcellis M. Zondag serves as Associate Professor of Marketing at Western Michigan University's Haworth College of Business, where he directs both the Supply Chain Management Program and the Food Industry Research and Education Center. He additionally holds a visiting professorship at the University of Rostock's Institute for Marketing and Service Research since 2019.

His educational background includes a J.D. from Erasmus University Rotterdam, an MBA, and a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee. Prior to academia, he accumulated 22 years of senior management experience across the aerospace and defense industry in Europe, Asia, and North America.

Zondag's research specializes in the intersection of food marketing and supply chain execution, with particular focus on omnichannel retail strategies, shopper loyalty systems, and the critical 'last 100 yards' of food distribution. His work bridges academic theory with practical industry applications in consumer package goods.

As director of the Food Industry Research and Education Center, he leads initiatives connecting Western Michigan University with industry partners to solve real-world challenges in retail execution and customer experience management. The center provides students with hands-on research opportunities in food supply chain optimization.
