Marc Shawky is a Full Professor at the Department of Computer Science, University of Technology of Compiègne (UTC), France, and a permanent member of the COSTECH laboratory (EA 2223). He teaches undergraduate courses in computer architecture and system design engineering, as well as postgraduate courses on innovation and start-ups for Master STU34 at Université Paris 4, achieving high student success rates (86% in 2019) and satisfaction (91% in 2022).
He earned his Engineering Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunications (1986), M.Sc. in Systems Control (1989), and Ph.D. in Parallel Architectures, Vision and Autonomous Vehicles (1992) from UTC, followed by a Habilitation to Direct Research in 2004. His educational journey included internships at RWTH Aachen, Siemens, and Merlin Gérin.
Shawky's research focuses on machine learning for health data analysis, ethical AI, and systems design, with current projects involving model extraction, traceability, and proof of decisions. He actively contributes to European initiatives including AI4EU and the EICOSE working group on Robust Design.
He holds significant responsibilities: ILADS society member (2023-), SERC Society board member (2020-), and evaluator for the INCO European Program (2007-). His career spans Full Professorship at UTC since 2010, Associate Professor roles at UTC and University of Evry, and a Visiting Associate Professorship at Waterloo University.
Shawky has led numerous European, industrial, national, and regional research projects. His teaching excellence is evidenced by consistent high performance metrics across modules like MI01 and MI12, with structured lab projects involving sensor systems and Android development.
As part of the COSTECH laboratory's CRY team, he collaborates on advanced digital systems through international networks like AI4EU and participates in working groups focused on AI for health and ethical AI development.
