Marc MacKinnon

Dr. Marc MacKinnon is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Regina, Faculty of Science. He serves as Honours Research Coordinator and leads the MacKinnon Group. His research focuses on organic chemistry, medicinal chemistry, aromatic chemistry, and antibiotic development. He holds a BSc from Wilfrid Laurier University, a Master’s and PhD from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and conducted postdoctoral research at McMaster University in antibiotic discovery. His work emphasizes organic synthesis, cyclophane chemistry, and molecular design for drug development. Key publications include studies on QSAR modeling, antibiotic potentiation, and novel polycyclic aromatic systems. He is active in advancing antibiotic research and sustainable chemical synthesis.
