Manuel Rocha Armada is a Full Professor of Finance at the University of Minho’s School of Economics and Management (EEG). He has held senior administrative roles including Director of a Research Center, Vice-President, and President of the School. His academic journey includes a PhD in Business Sciences from the University of Manchester, a Master’s from the University of Kent, and an undergraduate degree from ISEG (Lisbon School of Economics and Management).
His research focuses on Corporate Finance, Behavioral Finance, Investment Fund Performance Evaluation, and Real Options. He has published widely in journals like the European Journal of Finance, Quantitative Finance, and Industrial and Corporate Change. Notable contributions include studies on capital structure decisions, investor behavior, and financial crises impact.
Prof. Armada has received the Best Paper Award at three international finance conferences. He has taught at institutions such as the Wharton School, London Business School, and São Paulo University. He serves on the editorial boards of several journals and is a board member of the European Finance Association and Financial Management Association International.
His recent publications analyze topics like SME financing in Portugal, behavioral biases in stock trading, and Latin American market dynamics. He has been involved in research projects funded under grants UIDB/03182/2020 and UIDP/03182/2020.
