Mallika Kaur is a Lecturer at Berkeley Law, University of California, Berkeley, where she directs the Domestic Violence & Gender-Based Violence Practicum. Her interdisciplinary work bridges human rights, gender studies, and legal practice, focusing on systemic transformation through trauma-informed approaches. She holds a B.A. from the University of Chicago, a J.D. from UC Berkeley Law School, and an M.P.P. from Harvard’s Kennedy School.
Her research emphasizes gender-based violence, transitional justice, and minority rights, with regional focus on South Asia and the U.S. She co-founded the Sikh Family Center, addressing Sikh American gender-based violence. Publications include "Faith, Gender, and Activism in the Punjab Conflict" (2019) and an upcoming book on trauma in legal education (2024).
Mallika has collaborated with governments, NGOs, and academic institutions to advance justice initiatives. Her advocacy spans post-9/11 violence, civil remedies for intimate violence, and farmer suicides in South Asia. She trains professionals on bias reduction and trauma negotiation.
