Malin Gregersen is an analyst at Linnaeus University’s Executive Office, focusing on quality assurance, research education, and research ethics. As a historian, she is affiliated with the Linnaeus University Centre for Concurrences in Colonial and Postcolonial Studies and the Research Cluster for Colonial Connections and Comparisons. She holds a PhD in history from Lund University (2010) and conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Bergen. Her academic career includes roles as a researcher, assistant professor, and coordinator of doctoral education. She currently teaches in the Master’s Program in Colonial and Postcolonial Studies, coordinating its thesis course and supervising theses on women’s history, colonialism, and travel writing.
Her research explores cultural encounters, colonial knowledge formation, and the mobility of people, with a focus on Scandinavian Protestant missionaries in India and China. Ongoing projects include studying transnational ocean liner travel’s role in shaping colonial knowledge and analyzing missionary narratives about home and family. Her work bridges historical analysis with contemporary debates about colonial legacies and transnational networks.
Gregersen has coordinated a Nordic research network on women’s transnational migration history and contributed to journals like Journal of Imperial and Commonwealth History. Her publications span colonial and postcolonial studies, missionary history, and transnational cultural dynamics. She has also served as editorial secretary for the historical journal Scandia.
