Magalie Alcindor

Dr. Magalie Alcindor is an Assistant Professor of Nursing at York College, part of the City University of New York (CUNY) system. She holds a PhD in Nursing Education from Capella University (2017), an MS in Pediatric Nurse Practitioner from Lehman College (2000), and a BS in Nursing from SUNY Health Science Center (1990).

Her research examines healthcare disparities, educational experiences of foreign-born nursing students (particularly Haitian immigrants), mental health in vulnerable populations, and evidence-based nursing practices. Recent publications analyze COVID-19 impacts on underserved communities, transgender healthcare barriers, and innovative teaching methodologies like blueprint puzzle tournaments for nursing education.

Her 15 most recent articles (2021-2025) consistently address health equity issues, with frequent publications in the Evidence-Based Nursing Journal covering mental health interventions, maternal outcomes during pandemics, and culturally competent care approaches.
