Maarten Milders is an Associate Professor in Clinical Neuropsychology at the Faculty of Behavioural and Movement Sciences, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He holds a secondary appointment in the Institute for Brain, Behaviour and Aging (IBBA). His research focuses on cognitive decline in aging populations, dementia interventions, and the application of meta-analytic methods in healthcare.
Key research interests include sensory stimulation effects in nursing homes, caregiver support programs for dementia patients, and the neuroprotective role of physical activity. He has contributed to 16 peer-reviewed publications and led the MOMANT study protocol addressing caregiver support interventions. Dr. Milders teaches courses on Neuropsychology of Aging and Practical Research Skills.
His work addresses UN Sustainable Development Goals related to good health and well-being (SDG3) and quality education (SDG4). Collaborations span international institutions with recent work in the Netherlands and other European countries.
