Lynn Setterington is a Senior Lecturer at Manchester Metropolitan University within the Textiles in Practice program and Course Leader for MA/MSc Design for Health & Wellbeing. As a British textile artist, she specializes in socially engaged projects with marginalized communities globally, focusing on collaborative stitching, memory textiles, and tactile design. Her work is held in major collections including the V&A Museum and International Quilt Study Center.
Her PhD (2013-2018) at the University of the Creative Arts explored collaborative stitching dynamics. She has secured funding from the Arts Council, HEFC, and Heritage Lottery Fund, with research areas spanning signature quilts as social networks, sensory design, and the history of collective textile creation. She contributes to journals like Journal of Applied Arts and Health and Quilt Studies, and leads projects such as Safety Net (mental health awareness) and World Aids Day quilts.
