Lyle Browne is a Lecturer in Theatre at the University of South Carolina's Department of Theatre and Dance within the McCausland College of Arts and Sciences. He brings professional experience as an actor, director, intimacy director, and dialect coach with credits at regional theaters including Playhouse on the Square, Arden Theatre Company, and Utah Shakespeare Festival.
Browne holds a BA in Theatre from the University of Iowa, an MFA from Roosevelt University, and an MAT from National Louis University. His pedagogical approach integrates professional performance experience with innovative teaching methodologies.
His research interests include improvisation, sketch comedy writing, theatrical intimacy practices, consent-based performance techniques, and community-engaged theatre education.
