Braun’s work is characterized by abstract realism, blending dreamlike and nightmarish landscapes with a focus on color as an atmospheric language. He uses found materials to interrogate historical and existential tensions, often creating elliptical narratives that merge past, present, and future. His exhibitions, such as Flaming Loneliness (2025) and Sensual Human Activity (2023), emphasize a dialectics of decay and renewal, engaging viewers in open-ended interpretations.
Scientific honors include a studio scholarship from the Lenikus Stiftung (2010). His teaching roles include a professorship at Braunschweig University of Fine Arts (since 2023) and deputy professorships at institutions in Karlsruhe and Helsinki. Braun’s works have been exhibited internationally, with solo shows in Lisbon, Munich, and Berlin, and group exhibitions at the Berlin Biennale (2006), Kunsthalle Schlieren (2018), and venues in New York, Los Angeles, and Beijing.
