Luke Nguyen

Dr. Luke Nguyen is a Lecturer II in the Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of San Diego, currently completing his PhD in Clinical Psychology at Hofstra University (expected 2025). He holds MA degrees in Clinical Psychology from Hofstra University (2021) and Psychology Research from New York University (2020), and a BA in Business Administration and Marketing from Hoa Sen University (2014).

Nguyen's research focuses on online behavioral addiction, particularly problematic pornography viewing, and the application of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for underserved communities with medical conditions. His work emphasizes psychometric development, cultural sensitivity, and clinical implementation of evidence-based interventions.

His dissertation on moral incongruence in pornography viewing earned a nomination for the Robinson Award for Excellence in Dissertation and Presentation. Nguyen also provides psychotherapy training in third-wave therapies across diverse clinical settings, including correctional facilities and international programs.

Nguyen has extensive clinical experience at the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility, where he delivers group and individual psychotherapy, crisis interventions, and interdisciplinary treatment planning. He integrates mindfulness practices into his clinical and teaching work, drawing from over 20 years of personal mindfulness practice.
