Luisa Lambertini

Luisa Lambertini is a Full Professor and holds the Chair of International Finance at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), affiliated with the College of Management of Technology (CDM) and the Department of Finance. She earned a Ph.D. in Economics from UC Berkeley (1995), MSc from Warwick University (1989), and Laurea cum Laude from Bologna (1987). Her research focuses on international finance, monetary/fiscal policy interactions, and political economy, emphasizing policy design to mitigate economic shocks. She has published in top journals like the American Economic Review and European Economic Review, and advised the European Central Bank. Current research includes housing market modeling, macro-prudential policies, and bank capital regulation.

Her work explores boom-bust cycles in housing markets, fiscal sustainability, and the role of institutions in small open economies. She has supervised PhD students such as Corinne Dubois and Yu Wu. Notable projects include analyzing mortgage risk, stress tests in banking, and the impact of austerity policies. Lambertini also holds patents in solar irradiance forecasting using public cameras and has organized international conferences.
