Vega Luis is a Professor at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and serves as the Scientific Director of the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics (BCAM). He has held leadership roles in academia, including PI of the Strategic Network of Mathematics in Spain (from 2020) and Director of the Training and Research Unit of Mathematics and Applications (2012–2013). His affiliations also include the BioCruces Research Institute, where he directs the Department of Quantitative Biomedicine.
