Luis Rodriguez-Rincon

Luis Rodriguez-Rincon is an Assistant Professor of Spanish at Haverford College. He focuses on medieval to early modern Spanish literature and culture from a transatlantic perspective, emphasizing comparative analysis between Spanish-language writers and their contemporaries in Europe, the Americas, Asia, and Africa.

His research explores the intersection of nature and art in transatlantic literature and culture, particularly through his book project Pagan Nature: Rivers, Sea Gods, and the Natural Order in the Early Modern Transatlantic World, which examines how early modern poets and artists depicted rulers as pagan deities to interrogate political and social hierarchies. His work bridges literary studies, art history, and the history of science, integrating environmental humanities.

In teaching, he prioritizes equity and inclusion, foregrounding race, class, gender, and sexuality in medieval and early modern contexts, while supporting underrepresented students in language and cultural studies.
