Luis O. Arata is a Professor of Modern Languages in the Department of Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at Quinnipiac University's College of Arts & Sciences. Luis Arata has received significant recognition for his interdisciplinary scholarship, including a residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, two Visiting Faculty Fellowships at Yale University, and four research residences at the Santa Fe Institute. He was also awarded a full fellowship for doctoral study in Physics at Stony Brook.
He has founded a theatre company and created original artistic works, including four written and produced plays and a collective creation performed on fire escapes in New York City. As an educator, he teaches a diverse curriculum including courses on Latin American cultures, Spanish film, folklore, food, art, sports, and environmental issues. An avid trail runner, he won his age group in a 50K ultra marathon and enjoys running on Sleeping Giant mountain trails.
