Lui Forni

Professor Lui Forni is an Honorary Professor in the Section of Clinical Medicine at the University of Surrey's School of Biosciences. He holds a BSc, PhD (in physical chemistry), MB.BS, and MRCPI qualifications. His career spans basic science, medical training, and specialization in renal medicine and intensive care. Prior to his current role, he was a consultant Intensivist/Nephrologist at Western Sussex Hospitals Trust and an Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Sussex. His research focuses on acute kidney injury (AKI), renal replacement therapy (RRT), sepsis management, and predictive modeling in acute care.

Education: Trained in physical chemistry (PhD), followed by medical training at St George's Hospital Medical School. Specialized in renal medicine and intensive care at St Thomas' and St George's hospitals.

Research: Over 100 publications and book chapters, with a focus on AKI pathophysiology and treatment, fluid resuscitation in sepsis, and biomarker development (e.g., TIMP-2 and IGFBP7).
