Jon Silversides

Dr. Jon Silversides is a Senior Lecturer and practicing intensivist at the Wellcome Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine, Queen's University Belfast, with joint appointments in anesthesia and critical care medicine. He serves as clinical lead for critical care within the Northern Ireland Clinical Research Network.

Research domains include:

• Fluid resuscitation strategies in sepsis and critical illness
• Long-term outcomes of perioperative interventions
• Clinical trial design for anesthesia safety
• Personalized approaches to sepsis management

Current projects include SINFONIA (a 2500-patient trial comparing neuromuscular reversal agents) and SepTIC (exploring conservative fluid management in sepsis). Recent publications emphasize anesthesia trial standardization (2025) and chemokine biomarkers in acute kidney injury (2024).

Teaching encompasses clinical trial design courses and postgraduate critical care training. Awards recognize contributions to team-based medical education.
