Ludmil Christov

Prof. Ludmil Christov is a Professor in the Department of Cinema, Advertising and Show Business at New Bulgarian University (NBU), teaching since 1991. He founded the department in 1993 and served as its head from 1994 to 2000 and again from 2006 to 2020. As Director of NBU's Radio-Television Center, he has shaped media education in Bulgaria, with his department ranked first at NBU from 2009 to 2013/14.

His research spans Higher Education, Cinema and Television, Photography, and Art. He developed foundational academic programs including Cinema and Television (1993) and Visual Arts (2007), integrating 18 years of practical experience as a film operator at Boyana Film Studio (1973-1990) into his pedagogy. His work bridges theoretical frameworks with hands-on cinematography techniques across documentary, advertising, and feature film production.

Scientific recognition includes Bulgarian and international awards for his cinematography work. Leadership roles encompass President of Sofia Film's Board of Directors (1997-2002), President of NAOA's Permanent Committee on Humanities and Arts (2015-2018), and Management Board President of Filmautor (2014-2016).

He has mentored generations of students through courses like Main Components of the Image and Practical Seminar: Mastering Camera Operator Techniques, while serving on NBU's Academic Council from its inception until 2020. His governance extends to film festival juries and advertising communications conferences, reinforcing industry-academia collaboration.

Prof. Christov directs NBU's Radio-Television Center, providing students with professional production facilities for television programming, commercials, and film projects under his operational expertise.
