Lucy T. Arrington

Lucy T. Arrington serves as Full-time Instructor of Dance in Lamar University's Department of Theatre & Dance since 2010, following 12 years as Adjunct Professor. She concurrently holds the position of Choreographer in Residence for Southeast Texas Ballet Company and maintains extensive professional collaborations across Southeast Texas performing arts organizations including Beaumont Community Players and Symphony of Southeast Texas.

Her academic foundation includes a B.A. in Dance from Lamar University where she trained under Julio deBittencourt (ballet) and Jim Franklin (musical theatre/jazz). Professional development features Dance Masters of America certification in four disciplines and advanced flamenco studies in Mexico/Spain with renowned masters Nana Lorca, Rogelio Rodriguez, and Luis Rivera.

Arrington's artistic practice spans ballet, tap, jazz, and flamenco with strong emphasis on choreographic innovation. Her original works feature prominently in Lamar's dance concerts and regional productions like 'Sweet Charity', while the 2019 Taiwan cultural exchange showcased her composition 'Boudain and Barbecue'. She actively bridges academic training and professional performance through community partnerships including the recent Odom Academy collaboration.

Student mentorship remains central to her practice, with documented success in preparing dancers for elite programs in New York and Los Angeles. Her dance internship program provides practical experience through university productions and community engagements, reflecting her dual commitment to pedagogical excellence and professional artistry.

As both performer and choreographer, Arrington sustains active involvement with Gaslight Theatre, Beaumont Civic Ballet, and multiple regional dance companies. Her master classes at national events like the American College Dance Festival extend her influence beyond Southeast Texas, demonstrating ongoing professional development and knowledge sharing.
