About
Dr. Lucia Ricciardi serves as Senior Lecturer in Neurology at City St George's, University of London (formed from the August 2024 merger of St George's University of London and City, University of London). She concurrently holds a consultant neurologist position at St George's University Hospital London, where she leads the holistic care clinic and is part of the Advanced Movement Disorders Therapies Team.
Her research specializes in the biological, behavioral, and psychological dimensions of non-motor symptoms in Parkinson's disease and related movement disorders. Key methodologies involve evaluating multi-modal biomarkers—including cortical, subcortical, and autonomic data—to understand neuropsychiatric symptom generation. A central focus is investigating interoception's role in perpetuating these symptoms.
Dr. Ricciardi's work aims to enhance mind-body interactions in affected populations through novel interventions designed to empower patients in improving their wellbeing. Her clinical leadership in the holistic care clinic directly translates research insights into patient-centered care frameworks.
Her research output centers on translational neurology with emphasis on:
- Neurodegenerative disease symptomatology
- Physiological-psychological symptom interactions
- Quantitative biomarker validation
- Patient-driven therapeutic design
As an academic-clinician, she bridges neuroscience research with frontline neurological care, maintaining active roles in both the Neuroscience & Cell Biology Research Institute and clinical hospital operations.
