Lucia Akard is an Associate Lecturer in Medieval British History (c.1300-c.1500) at the University of York's Department of History. Her research focuses on gendered violence, sexuality, and medieval social structures, particularly in late medieval Europe. She is the author of the forthcoming monograph Victims and Survivors of Rape in the Late Middle Ages (Oxford University Press) and has published in journals like Studies in the Age of Chaucer and The English Historical Review. Her current research investigates communities of sex workers in fifteenth-century Dijon.
Previously, she held a position as College Lecturer in Medieval Studies at Oriel College, Oxford. She holds a DPhil in History and specializes in interdisciplinary approaches to medieval gender studies.
