Dr. Louis Volante is a Distinguished Professor at Brock University’s Faculty of Education and a Professorial Fellow at UNU-MERIT/Maastricht Graduate School of Governance. He holds a PhD from the University of Toronto, focusing on policy studies. His interdisciplinary research examines global education governance, pandemic impacts on learning outcomes, immigrant student integration, and international achievement surveys. He has received continuous SSHRC funding, including a $230,237 Insight Grant (2023-2028) analyzing pandemic effects on inequality and education. Notably, he is a two-time recipient of the R.W.B. Jackson Publication Award for outstanding journal articles.
Dr. Volante’s work bridges academic and policy communities, with consultancy roles at OECD, UNESCO, and the European Commission. He has served as President of the Canadian Society for the Study of Education (CSSE) and the Canadian Educational Researchers’ Association (CERA). Courses taught include graduate-level politics of education, educational leadership, and comparative education, alongside undergraduate courses on organizational learning.
