Lorraine Young

Lorraine Young serves as University Teacher in Fine Art, Programme Director for Fine Art, and Associate Dean of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) at Loughborough University's School of Design and Creative Arts, where she leads academic programs and institutional inclusion initiatives within the Fine Art department.

Her educational background includes:

• Undergraduate degree in Sculpture from LCAD
• Master of Arts in Drawing from UAL: Wimbledon

Young's research practice centers on contemporary drawing exploration, bridging traditional techniques with modern conceptual frameworks. Her work investigates spatial relationships and materiality through iterative drawing processes, positioning drawing as both foundational discipline and autonomous artistic medium within contemporary fine art discourse.

Her recent exhibitions demonstrate international recognition, featuring at The National Gallery (London), Nan-Yang Academy (Singapore), The Centre for Drawing (London), and Wimbledon Space Gallery. These presentations highlight her contributions to evolving drawing practices in global art contexts.

In her leadership roles, Young oversees curriculum development for Fine Art programs while driving EDI strategy across the School of Design and Creative Arts, integrating inclusive pedagogy with artistic practice.
