Lorie L. Francis

Lorie L. Francis is a Teaching Professor of Music at Missouri University of Science and Technology (S&T), affiliated with the Arts, Languages, and Philosophy school. She teaches courses including Music Appreciation, Music of Latin America, and Music Theory, and conducts the Jazz Choir and Chamber Choir. A highly active performer and educator, she has served as vocal coach/music director for S&T Theater and has performed with orchestras like the S&T University Orchestra (most recently in Mozart’s Concerto #20).

Research & Interests: Focuses on fostering joy and discovery in music through pedagogy, with specialties in choral conducting, Latin American musical traditions, and collaborative piano. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes connecting students to music’s emotional and intellectual dimensions.
