Laura Blanchard

Laura Blanchard is a Lecturer in Music at Oakland University's School of Music, Theatre and Dance, where she has taught Musicianship for Musical Theatre Majors I & II since 2017. She serves as a vocal coach and collaborative pianist for musical theatre productions, contributing to performance training and artistic development.

Her educational background includes:

• Bachelor’s degrees in Music Education (Vocal Emphasis) and Music Therapy from Ohio University (Athens, OH)
• Master’s degree in Vocal Pedagogy from Oakland University under John-Paul White and Edith Diggory

Professional expertise spans Musical Theatre direction, Vocal Pedagogy instruction, and comprehensive Music Education. She developed choir programs at Holly Area Schools, founded Blanchard Music Studio for Kindermusik and private instruction, and served as long-term accompanist for Holly Middle/High Schools. Her performance career includes leading roles in The Sound of Music, Guys and Dolls, and Anything Goes, plus dinner theater productions like The Taffetas.

At Transfiguration Lutheran Church in Fenton, she has served as music director for over 25 years while maintaining active performance and coaching roles in regional productions. Her teaching integrates practical stage experience with technical vocal training across educational settings from early childhood to university level.
