Lopa Husain

Lopa Husain is the Course Leader for the PGDip Physician Associate Studies at Sheffield Hallam University's College of Health, Wellbeing and Life Sciences. She holds advanced qualifications including an MBBS, MRCS, MD, and a PGCert in Healthcare Education. Her academic background includes clinical work as a general surgery registrar before transitioning to academia. As Course Leader, she oversees the integration of taught content and clinical placements to ensure high-quality teaching and learning experiences.

Her teaching responsibilities include leading modules on Gastroenterology, Endocrine and Renal systems, Managing Medical Care, and contributing to Genito-Urinary Health and Minor Illness modules. She also teaches on the Advancing Clinical Practice program, focusing on APACS and Minor Illness topics.

Husain's research has centered on oncology and geriatric healthcare decision-making, particularly in breast cancer treatment options for older women. Her work has been published in journals like Psycho-Oncology and Annals of the Royal College of Surgeons. She serves as an examiner for the Physician Associate National Exams.
