Liz Raleigh

Liz Raleigh is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Chair of Sociology and Anthropology at Carleton University since 2012. Her research sits at the intersection of family studies, racial/ethnic dynamics, and market sociology.

Research Focus: Liz’s work critically examines how social institutions like families, markets, and racial hierarchies intersect. She has authored the book Selling Transracial Adoption: Families, Markets, and the Color Line, which explores the commodification of adoption across racial lines.

Contact & Teaching: Her office is located in Leighton Hall 228, and she teaches undergraduate courses including Introduction to Sociology (SOAN 111) and Modern Families (SOAN 114).
