Lise Michel is an Associate Professor of French Literature specializing in dramaturgy and theater history at the University of Lausanne, affiliated with the Faculty of Arts and the French Department. She holds a doctorate from Université Paris-Sorbonne (2006) and joined the University of Lausanne in 2011 as an assistant professor.
Her research focuses on classical-period theater performance conditions, historical poetics, and performance criticism. Notable projects include the Swiss National Science Foundation initiative “Naissance de la critique dramatique” (2013–2018) and collaborations with 25 French-speaking Swiss theater institutions through her theater criticism workshop. Current research explores movement sensitivity in 17th- and 18th-century stages, linking to machine theater and cinematics.
As coordinator of the Centre for Theatre Studies, she fosters academic partnerships in theater studies across institutions. Her work bridges historical analysis with contemporary theatrical practices.
