Lisa Sasson

Lisa Sasson is the Associate Dean for Global Affairs and Experiential Learning and a Clinical Professor in the Department of Nutrition and Food Studies at New York University’s Steinhardt School. She leads NYU’s graduate dietetic internship program and oversees study abroad initiatives in Tuscany, Italy, and Tel Aviv, Israel, focusing on cuisine, the Mediterranean diet, and cultural nutrition. Her teaching spans undergraduate and graduate courses, and she collaborates with NYU dental faculty to integrate nutrition into oral health curricula. Sasson also serves as a private nutrition consultant and media commentator, advising on healthy eating and weight management. She partners with Nickelodeon’s public affairs team and frequently contributes to media discussions on nutrition-related topics.

Her research emphasizes interprofessional education, global food practices, and the application of culinary methods to healthcare challenges. Notable projects include evaluating pediatric dentistry clinical rotations’ impact on dietitians’ skills and exploring how study abroad programs shape food-related attitudes. She has also pioneered culinary competitions for patients with swallowing difficulties, bridging speech-language pathology and nutrition.
