Lisa McIntyre is joining the University of North Texas (UNT) as Vice Provost for Student Success, a strategic leadership role focused on enhancing student academic journeys and career outcomes. In this capacity, she oversees academic advising, the UNT Learning Center, summer bridge programs, academic integrity, the SPOT program, and institutional review of centers and institutes. She also leads professional development for department chairs and collaborates across UNT’s 14 colleges to align curriculum and enrollment with student success goals.
Dr. McIntyre previously served at Arizona State University (ASU) for over 16 years in progressive leadership roles, including Assistant Vice Provost for Student Success Innovations, Executive Director of Advising and Student Advancement, and Director of Transfer Systems Development. Her career centers on building student-centered, data-informed systems that improve access, equity, and retention in higher education.

Her research and professional interests include student success, academic advising transformation, transfer credit evaluation, proactive advising models, and institutional innovation. At ASU, she led the overhaul of transfer credit evaluation processes, which improved efficiency and earned investment from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for national scaling. She also developed the Advisor Portal, enabling a shift from transactional to proactive advising.
Dr. McIntyre attributes her success to an ethic of care—designing systems that serve the needs of students, faculty, and advisors alike. Though no scientific awards or peer-reviewed articles are mentioned, her work has had significant institutional and national impact. She succeeds Lisa Maxwell, who served as interim vice provost.
