Lisa M. Gruenhagen

Lisa M. Gruenhagen is an Associate Professor of Music Education and Area Coordinator of General Music at Bowling Green State University (BGSU). She also served as Interim Chair of Music Education and Program Coordinator for the MM Teaching Artistry Degree. Her career includes roles at institutions such as Hartwick College, Nazareth College, the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and the Eastman School of Music, where she coordinated the Eastman Community Music School’s Early Childhood Music Program. She managed outreach programs at the Levine School of Music and contributed to grant-funded initiatives.

Her research focuses on fostering children’s musical understanding through creative practices, teacher action research, and professional development. She has presented at national/international conferences and published in journals like Music Educators Journal and Journal of Research in Music Education. She currently serves on the Partnerships for Higher Education Working Group for the Arts Education Partnership (AEP).

Dr. Gruenhagen consults for Toledo Opera’s An Opera is a Story residency program and collaborates with the Harvard Graduate School of Education’s WIDE World initiative, supporting educators globally. Her work emphasizes arts integration and teacher training.
