Lisa Hammond is a Professor of English at the University of South Carolina Lancaster and Associate Provost for Faculty Affairs at the University of South Carolina Columbia. She earned a BA from Francis Marion University and an MA/PhD from the University of Alabama. Her research focuses on American women writers, composition and technology, and gender studies. She authored three poetry chapbooks: Lily Watch (2021), Goddess Suite (2018), and Moving House (2007), the latter winning the Robert Phillips Poetry Chapbook Prize. Her online women’s studies course (WOST J111) received a regional distinguished program award.
Dr. Hammond has taught at Michigan State University and pioneered online instruction at USC Lancaster since 1998. Her scholarly work appears in Kairos, NWSA Journal, and Biography. She actively engages in creative writing workshops and community education initiatives, blending literary artistry with pedagogical innovation. A resident of Columbia, SC, she balances administrative leadership, teaching, and creative output across poetry, prose, and photography.
