Lisa D. Chavez

Lisa D. Chavez serves as an Associate Professor specializing in Creative Writing within the Department of English Language and Literature at the University of New Mexico.

Her scholarly and creative work centers on Poetry, Creative Nonfiction, and American Multicultural Literature, with additional expertise in Science Fiction and Fantasy genres. Chavez has authored two critically recognized poetry collections: Destruction Bay and In An Angry Season. Her essays appear in prominent publications including Arts and Letters and The Fourth Genre, alongside anthologies such as Camino del Sol: Fifteen Years of Latina and Latino Writing, The Other Latin@: Writing Against a Singular Identity, and An Angle of Vision: Women Writers on their Poor and Working Class Roots.
