Lisa Calvente

Dr. Lisa Calvente is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Performance Studies at the University of North Carolina. Her research focuses on Black Studies, Performance Studies, and Cultural Studies, critically examining anti-Black and anti-Brown racism, the Black Diaspora experience, and coloniality. She holds office hours by appointment in 138 Bynum Hall.

Education: BA in Philosophy & Sociology from City University of New York (Brooklyn College); MA and PhD in Communication from University of North Carolina; Post-Doctorate in African American Studies from Northwestern University.
