Lisa Audet is an Assistant Professor in Speech Pathology and Audiology at Kent State University, with a 30-year clinical background across hospitals, schools, and private practice. As Provost Faculty Associate for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (2016-2018), she develops support systems for college students with ASD and promotes diversity in communication sciences. She coordinates the Autism Spectrum Disorders Graduate Certificate and leads the Autism Initiative for Research, Education, and Outreach (AIREO).
Her research examines language development in children with autism, cultural responsiveness in speech pathology, and college success factors for neurodiverse students. She created the experiential P.A.L.S. program pairing neurotypical and ASD students, and a Global Understanding of Autism study abroad initiative with Brazil's University of São Paulo. She advises student organizations including NSSLHA and Autism Connect Kent.
Publications address autism interventions, microaggression cognition, diversity recruitment, and augmentative communication research trends. Her mixed-methods approach incorporates descriptive, survey, and single-subject designs.
