Linwei Niu

Linwei Niu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Howard University's College of Engineering and Architecture. His research focuses on real-time embedded systems, energy-efficient computing, and fault-tolerant architectures, with particular emphasis on reliability-aware scheduling for systems with quality-of-service constraints.

Niu develops innovative scheduling algorithms for weakly hard real-time systems that balance energy efficiency with reliability requirements, frequently employing standby-sparing techniques and fixed-priority enforcement mechanisms. His recent work addresses fault tolerance in time-sensitive networking through online rerouting and dynamic rescheduling methods.

Earlier research explored brain-computer interfaces for humanoid robot control, implementing event-related potential and SSVEP hierarchical architectures for obstacle navigation and full-body movement. Current projects investigate energy-constrained scheduling under hard reliability constraints for mission-critical applications.
