Linn Sæbø Rystad

Linn Sæbø Rystad is an Associate Professor of Practical Theology at MF University College of Theology, Religion and Society. She holds a Master of Theology degree from MF and completed her PhD in 2021 with a thesis titled 'Overestimated and Underestimated - a Case Study of the Practice of Preaching for Children with an Emphasis on Children's Role as Listeners'. Currently serving as First Amanuensis in Practical Theology and Program Director for UKT (Youth and Children's Theology), her work bridges academic research and ecclesiastical practice.

Her research focuses on Homiletics, Faith Education, and Congregational Pedagogy, particularly in relation to children and youth. She has contributed extensively to studies on confirmation practices in Europe, including the post-pandemic adaptation analysis in the Third International Study. Her publications emphasize intergenerational dynamics, pedagogical theology, and the negotiation of religious narratives in modern contexts.

Recent articles examine confirmation work across Europe, youth agency in ecclesiastical settings, and the intersection of intentional leadership with institutional frameworks. While her work centers on preaching practices, she also explores broader themes like theological listening and the credibility of faith education programs.

Professional roles include serving on the board of The Norwegian Bible Society (2012-2018) and participating in the Theological Council (2010-2018). Her methodological approach combines empirical research with theoretical frameworks from practical theology and pedagogy.
