Line Nybakken

Line Nybakken is Professor of Forest Ecology at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences, researching environmental change impacts on boreal ecosystems. Her work integrates chemical ecology, tree physiology, and climate responses across Norway's forests.

Holding an MSc (1994) and PhD (2003) from Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Nybakken's training encompasses plant stress physiology and chemical ecology. Postdoctoral research examined climate change effects on dioecious trees.

Research investigates how temperature, radiation, nitrogen deposition, and forestry practices alter forest composition. Current projects include PREDICT (monitoring tree growth along climate gradients) and EcoForest (long-term biodiversity impacts of clear-cutting).

Recent publications demonstrate focus on plant-microbe interactions, radiation impacts at Chernobyl, and nitrogen cycling. Field studies employ dendrometers, chemical analyses, and remote sensing across Norwegian forests.
