About
Linda Kock is an Assistant Professor (Part-time) in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology, specializing in the Orthopaedic Biomechanics research group. Her work focuses on developing ex vivo models for studying bone dynamics, liver function, and tissue engineering applications.
Dr. Kock's research primarily centers on biomechanics and tissue engineering, with particular emphasis on:
- Ex vivo culture systems for bone and cartilage tissue
- Liver perfusion and transplantation models
- Organoid development and application in regenerative medicine
- Longitudinal monitoring of tissue dynamics using advanced imaging techniques
- Development of alternatives to animal experimentation in medical research
Her recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on creating clinically relevant ex vivo models that bridge the gap between laboratory research and clinical applications, particularly in orthopaedics and liver transplantation. She has developed innovative approaches for monitoring bone remodeling through micro-CT scanning and has investigated the use of slaughterhouse-obtained livers as alternatives to laboratory pigs for perfusion research.
Dr. Kock has received research funding from several prestigious sources including the European Union's Horizon 2020 research program under Marie Sklodowska-Curie grant agreements and the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research through the ERC Proof of Concept program and Gravitation Program.
She is actively contributing to the advancement of regenerative medicine techniques that align with the 3Rs principle (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement) in medical research, providing valuable platforms for testing drug treatments and evaluating implant performance under controlled conditions that better reflect human physiology.
