About
Dr. Liam Marsh is a Lecturer in Embedded Systems at the University of Manchester's Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. His research develops sensing technologies for security applications, humanitarian demining, and environmental monitoring in extreme climates.
Research focuses on: 1) Electromagnetic sensing systems 2) Metal detection and characterization 3) Polar-region instrumentation 4) Signal processing algorithms. Current projects include TRANSMIT (towable RF system for Arctic sea ice thickness measurement) and smart metal detectors for security screening.
He coordinates the Embedded Systems Project course and teaches Microcontroller Engineering. Awards include the Beloe Fellowship for technology development.
