Li Shen Chong (Jesslyn) is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychology at San José State University and Principal Investigator of the Biopsychosocial Health and Development (BHAD) Lab. Her research investigates biopsychosocial factors linking early life stress to socioemotional and health outcomes, examining within- and between-group differences in stress response, and translating findings into targeted interventions.
Using multisystem approaches, Dr. Chong's work assesses autonomic, neuroendocrine, and inflammatory functioning through behavioral observations and self-report measures. Her publications focus on stress physiology, intervention efficacy, and health disparities across developmental periods.
Recent research themes include childhood stress resilience, psychophysiological moderators of health outcomes, racial disparities in stress responses, and culturally adapted interventions.
