About
Li Mao is a Senior Research Associate at the University of East Anglia's School of Environmental Sciences, affiliated with the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research. She holds an MSc in Environmental Assessment and Management from UEA (2018) and BEng in Environmental Engineering from Wuhan University of Technology (2017). Her current research focuses on the OpenCLIM_LANDS project evaluating climate-resilient land interventions.
Research interests center on soil recarbonization techniques, carbon stability mechanisms, predictive soil modeling, and evaluating land management impacts on soil health and carbon sequestration. Her work examines climate change effects on soil ecosystems and develops sustainable waste-to-soil applications.
Publications demonstrate applied research in soil carbon enhancement through paper waste recycling and economic frameworks for soil carbon markets. Collaborative projects include RECSOIL (reconstructed soils from waste) and PANEZA (paper crumble for sustainable agriculture).
Professional experience includes roles as Lecturer in Soil Science (2022-2024), Research Associate (2020-2022), and research positions at Chinese Academy of Sciences. Expertise contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals on climate action, sustainable land management, and ecosystem restoration.
