Leoarna Mathias

Leoarna Mathias is a Senior Lecturer in Student Engagement at Newman University, affiliated with the Directorate of Learning, Teaching and Scholarship. She joined Newman in 2019 and oversees institutional student induction programs, transition initiatives, and the HEADs transition suite. She also promotes Student Staff Partnership Projects and mentors colleagues toward HEA Fellowship through Newman’s CPD program.

Her research focuses on Students as Partners, Induction and Transition strategies, and Critical/Post-Critical Pedagogies. She is currently completing a PhD by Publication and has published extensively in these areas. She serves on University Council and advocates for pedagogical innovation in higher education.

Awarded Senior Fellowship of the HEA, she actively contributes to academic governance and staff development. Her work integrates student-centered approaches to enhance educational practices and institutional support systems.
