Lena-Maria Möller is a Research Professor at Qatar University in Doha, appointed as a Research Assistant Professor in August 2024. She holds a doctoral degree in Islamic studies and law from the University of Hamburg and Columbia University, with a dissertation on family law codification in Bahrain, Qatar, and the UAE, recognized by prestigious awards. Prior roles include Research Associate (2010–2013) and Senior Research Fellow (2014–2019) at an institute, and acting professorships in Islamic Law at the University of Leipzig (2019–2021) and University of Münster (2022–2023). She also contributed to Georgetown University Qatar’s research initiative on Gulf family law.
Her research focuses on legal frameworks in Islamic countries, particularly family law reforms in Gulf monarchies. Awards highlight her scholarly contributions, including the Otto Hahn Medal from the Max Planck Society.
